Description:
This position is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair activities within the City's water and wastewater distribution systems. Duties include trench excavation, repairing water and wastewater lines, installing new service connections, and operating various types of equipment. The role also provides support for meter-related tasks under the direction of the Warehouse Manager and/or Foreman.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- • System Maintenance & Repair:
- o Perform routine and emergency maintenance on the City's water and wastewater distribution systems.
- o Repair and install water and wastewater lines, including pipe laying, trenching, backfilling, base compaction,
and road cut patching. - o Assist with closed-circuit TV (CCTV) inspections and Vactor Truck operations.
- • Equipment & Tool Operation:
- o Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment.
- o Operate heavy and light machinery, including skid steers, backhoes, mini excavators, and other construction
equipment. - • Vehicle & Equipment Care:
- o Clean, inspect, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
- o Perform preventive maintenance on tools, vehicles, and machinery.
- • General & Facility Maintenance:
- o Assist with facility and grounds upkeep.
- o Support concrete work, asphalt repair, and yardwork.
- o Perform other duties as assigned.
Prequalifying Items:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in operating maintenance and repair equipment, including pipe saws, pipe cutters, and hand tools.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions effectively.
- Familiarity with the geographic layout of the city (preferred).
- Willingness and availability to work on-call shifts during weekdays, weekends, nights, and in emergencies.
- Certification and Licensing:
- Valid resident driver's license.
- Must obtain Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within one (1) year of hire date (see CDL Agreement).
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Must pass a background check.
- Valid Driver's License.
