JOB NOTICE -
APPLICANTS MUST BE 16 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. APPLICANTS MUST MEET OR EXCEED ALL REQUIREMENTS.
DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for pool patron supervision as well as recognizing and eliminating hazardous conditions or behaviors that could result in injury. The lifeguard must be prepared to act in an emergency and provide appropriate emergency care when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Follow City and Department policies and guidelines.
· Complete required certification and training programs.
· Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
· Promote a professional, inviting, and courteous atmosphere.
· Promote and demonstrate safety.
· Demonstrate effective water safety supervision and accident prevention.
· Enforce all facility rules and regulations.
· Perform daily maintenance at pool facility (including bathrooms, pool vacuuming, and trash removal).
· Assist with pool facility opening and closing.
· Assist with pool programs such as water exercise classes, swim lessons, and other aquatic activities.
· Assist in concession operations, including recycling, cleaning, and organizing.
· Assist with pool maintenance projects and recreation swim programs.
· Follow all procedures related to the collection of monies.
· Demonstrate proper care and usage of City equipment.
· Assist with record keeping and organization of the pool office.
· Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as scheduled.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Certifications
· Possess updated certification for Lifeguards and other required certifications.
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to properly demonstrate water and lifesaving skills.
· Skilled in working with both children and adults.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Knowledge of department and pool policies and procedures.
· Ability to work independently without supervision. Strong sense of ownership and initiative, collaborative and flexible attitude.
