DESCRIPTION
Under judicial supervision, the Deputy Court Clerk (DCC) assists the Manager/Chief Clerk and Deputy Chief Clerk in operations of the Civil/Small Claims Division. The DCC manages a variety of case-related tasks including docket maintenance, correspondence with legal and public entities, and execution of administrative duties. This position requires high integrity and professionalism in serving one judge of the 10th State District Court Judicial District based in Mountain Home, Baxter County.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Process Civil and Small Claims cases: fees, claims, summons, judgments.
· Issue legal documents: Summons, Subpoenas, Garnishments, Writs.
· Assist public with claim filing forms and information.
· Schedule and coordinate hearings (in person and via Zoom).
· Enter docket notes and maintain Virtual Justice system.
· Prepare and distribute court orders; maintain accurate files.
· Provide receptionist duties and quality customer service.
· Stay compliant via continuing education through AOC.
· Handle mail and data entry for reporting.
· Process and balance payments and receipts.
· Draft and review correspondence, memoranda, and reports.
· Liaise between judges and citizens; prepare court dockets.
· Case management and judge signature preparation.
· Clerical support: file processing, faxing, copying.
· Assist other divisions and complete special projects.
· Conduct record searches for external legal agencies.
Qualifications:
1. Education and Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Preferred: Arkansas District Court Clerks Certification
· Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
2. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Strong knowledge of Arkansas court system and legal terminology.
· Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
· Excellent communication, organization, and judgment.
· Teamwork and professionalism under pressure.
· Office tool proficiency and adaptability to new tech.
· Data entry accuracy and recordkeeping skills.
3. Certifications and Requirements:
· Background check and criminal record clearance required
· Certification with Arkansas District Court Clerks Association within three years, including:
o 30 hours of training
o New clerks orientation
o Ethics session
